This policy explains how Kaneel Lapidary & Gems (“Kaneel”, “we”, “us”) uses personal information when you visit this website, send an enquiry, request an appointment, pay to reserve a piece, or message us on WhatsApp.

Payments
We do not take card numbers on our own pages. Where a piece has a listed GBP price, you can pay to reserve it through Stripe’s hosted checkout. Pieces marked “contact for price” or “price on enquiry” are still sold after a conversation — usually by email, phone, WhatsApp, or in the studio.
Information we collect
We may collect:
- Your name, email address, and telephone number.
- The content of an enquiry or appointment request (what you are looking for, preferred dates, and any notes you add).
- Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp, including photos you attach.
- Payment and order details from Stripe when you pay to reserve a piece — typically your name, email, payment status, and the amount charged. We never receive or store full card numbers.
- Basic technical data that the site needs to run, such as the pages requested and a cookie that keeps an admin session signed in.
We do not create marketing profiles from your visit, and we do not sell your details.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- Reply to enquiries about gemstones, jewellery, or lapidary work.
- Arrange studio visits and follow up on work in progress.
- Confirm a pay-to-reserve order and send the confirmation email after Stripe tells us the payment succeeded.
- Keep a short record of conversations so we can serve you properly.
- Run and secure this website, including the private admin area.
Our legal bases under UK GDPR are typically legitimate interests (running a studio and answering people who contact us) and, where needed, steps toward a contract you have asked us to enter.
Who we share it with
Hosting, database, and email tools may process your information on our behalf (for example, so an enquiry form can be stored and so we can email you). Stripe processes card payments on its own pages. WhatsApp is provided by Meta; messages you send there are also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
We may share details if the law requires it, or with a professional adviser where that is necessary to protect our legitimate interests.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry, appointment, and paid-order records for as long as we need them to complete the conversation, fulfil the sale or work, and keep a reasonable business archive — then we delete or anonymise them. Admin login sessions last only while they are needed.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to restrict or object to how we use it, subject to UK data-protection law. Write to kaneelmathurata@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is aimed at adults. Please do not send us personal information about anyone under 18 unless you are their parent or guardian and it is needed for a genuine enquiry.
