About Kaneel
Kaneel Lapidary & Gems brings together careful lapidary work and a curated selection of fine gemstones — for people who value clarity, colour, and honest advice.

Birmingham Jewellery Quarter
Kaneel Lapidary & Gems is a gemstone and lapidary business based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. We bring gemstone selection and collection together with precision cutting, polishing, recutting, and restoration.
The focus is practical and personal: understand the stone, explain the available information, and discuss the right next step before a decision is made. Collectors, jewellers, and private clients are welcome to visit the studio by appointment.
Our relationship
Kaneel is the second, related venture developed from the experience behind Crystal Myths, the main company in this relationship. That connection is rooted in a shared familiarity with gemstones and the lapidary craft, while Kaneel offers its own Birmingham-based setting for selection, consultation, and specialist stone work.
The published Crystal Myths story traces its lapidary heritage to an early fascination with rocks, practical learning in a local lapidary, and experience gained through travel before Crystal Myths was established. Kaneel has grown from that background with the same close attention to the individual character of a stone.
How we work
Every enquiry begins with the stone, its condition, and what you hope to achieve. Advice is shaped around the information and options available for that particular gem.
01
Explore gemstones with guidance on their visible character, relevant specifications, and suitability for your collection or intended jewellery.
02
Precision cutting and polishing are planned around colour, proportion, and the material at hand, with the proposed work discussed before cutting begins.
03
Existing stones can be assessed for recutting, surface refinement, or restoration, with care taken to explain what may be possible before work proceeds.
Where treatment information or certification is available, it can form part of a transparent conversation about the gem. Availability varies by stone, so we distinguish between documented information and what is not known.
Care and clarity
Responsible practice starts with asking useful questions. We value established relationships, ask about origin, and review the information that accompanies a stone.
When origin details, treatment information, or supporting documentation are available, we aim to share them clearly. Not every stone carries the same level of documentation, and we do not present assumptions as verified facts.
Visit Kaneel
Meet at our Jewellery Quarter studio to view gemstones or discuss lapidary work in person. Visits are by appointment, so there is time to look closely and talk through your questions.
